In search of love and luster,
Love Is a Place is an invitation into my home.
In the past I have used the clown as a vessel for my own queer denial. My clown character Raggedy Stan can be seen as a gatekeeper of sorts, holding the key to the closet of my home. Stan represents the unique part of myself that inhibits me from my own queer expression.
Now that I have escaped the grasp of Raggedy Stan and locked the door to the closet, I am able to explore the profound nature of love. Love exists as a transcendent experience and begins from within. Love Is A Place is an exploration of ceramics as archival material. Through the lens of objecthood, I utilize the medium to record and solidify my queer history. My hope is that my artwork will live on as documentation of my own experience and will relay the message of love, light and life to those who reside in the future.
